“Phil’s father was in congress years ago. He enjoyed being a civil servant. He served with a great heart, joining others whose passion for their country is shown through their participation in the government sector and doing this for all the right reasons, loving to serve and protect what our founding fathers started, freedom to choose and live the lives we lead.  I’m proud to be an American.” – Angela

John Maxwell is one of my favorite authors.

In his book, ' The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader: Becoming the Person Others Will Want to Follow ', there are great bullet points on timeless leadership principles. Commitment a part of that process

On last week’s call, I discussed goals and the steps that Brian Tracy mentioned in his book,  Achieve Any Goal: 12 Steps to Realizing Your Dreams that was in last month’s Success Club.  Now, half way through the year, it is a perfect time to reflect on where you are in achieving those goals. A major factor here is your consistent commitment.

Review that last 6 months and plan for the next 6 months.

Last week, I talked about steps 1 through 7.

Here’s the remaining 5 steps:

8  - Determine additional  knowledge and skills you need.
9  - Determine the people who’s help you will need
10 - Make a plan
11 - Visualize your goals continually
12 - Never give up

Story of Michelangelo …

When he was summoned to Rome by the Pope. He wanted to go there to work, not on painting the Sistine chapel, but rather on sculpting. He did not want to paint, but since he was trained to paint as a child, he accepted the Pope’s offer. When he accepted it ,even though it wasn’t his passion, he thoroughly  committed himself. Due to the impact of his far-reaching commitment and his attention to details, he received other projects as well . He affected other artists as well and began getting commissioned for sculpting projects too. That was his true passion.

Commitment and goals you show today are far-reaching. The lasting impression is more than just to you and your family. It is so much bigger and has much more greatness.

A book in our latest Success Club is entitled 'Finish Strong '.  Although I haven’t read it yet, I love the title and I’m sure it will be a great read.
